MLB Injury Updates for Fantasy Baseball: Gomez, Tulowitzki, Holliday, Puig, Stanton, Kang

Hello again and welcome to this weeks edition of the MLB Injury Report. We have good and bad news. A lot of players returning from injury this week. Unfortunately, a fresh new crop of hurt players has popped up. Just a reminder, due to the vast amount of current injuries I will be focusing on those injured players with the utmost relevance to fantasy baseball managers.

Recent MLB Injuries and Updates

Carlos Gomez: Gomez is day-to-day with a left intercostal strain. He has yet to swing a bat since being out. His timetable is undetermined but he might return after the weekend.

Billy Burns: A right hamstring issue has kept Burns out for a few days, but he ran sprints on Thursday and should be back in base stealing mode in a few more days.

Stephen Vogt: Vogt is day-to-day with a groin issue but went through a full pregame workout on Friday and should be available after a few more days rest.

Troy Tulowitzki: Tulowitzki saw a specialist for his cracked scapula. He is probably out for the rest of the regular season. Maybe October too.

Matt Holliday: After all the time spent on quad recovery, Holliday got hit by a pitch in the helmet. However, he passed the concussion test and should be available again soon.

Yasiel Puig: On September 15th, Puig did some running in the outfield, but his right hamstring issue may keep him out for the rest of month.

Nori Aoki: Aoki is out indefinitely with post-concussion symptoms.

Joe Panik: Joe Panik is unfortunately out for the remainder of the season. It was a breakout year for Panik.

Hunter Pence: Pence recently took some dry swings with a bat and could make a brief return to the field in September.

Giancarlo Stanton: Giancarlo Stanton has been taking consistent batting pratice to recover from hand surgery and could see a return in late September. However, an unusual amount of scar tissue has his return in jeopardy.

Ryan Zimmerman: Zimmerman is day-to-day with a left oblique strain and is still unable to resume baseball activities. Don't hold your breath on Z-Man.

Maikel Franco: Franco will begin working out in the team's training center in Florida and could return as early as the 22nd. It's more likely that he returns for the last week of the season.

Jung Ho Kang: Jung Ho Kang's knee surgery will bring his grand debut season to an end. He will be out for 6-8 months.

Hanley Ramirez: Hanley Ramirez has struggled with right shoulder fatigue, but he has recently resumed throwing to bases and should see a return to the field for a little bit of regular season play.

Notable Injury Returns

Howie Kendrick
Ryan Braun
Huston Street
Dustin Pedroia
Matt Adams
Jorge Soler
