Monte Morris (PG/SG, DEN): Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

ROSTERED IN: 53% of leagues

ANALYSIS:  The Nuggets, if you live under a rock, are currently treating as many as five players (two bonafide starters) that are nursing all varieties of injuries/problems ranging from a season-ending back surgery to a stint in the Protocols shelf due to COVID issues. With starting PG Jamal Murray out until the playoffs and Facu Campazzo being Facu Campazzo, it was always going to be the Year of the Monte at PG. And that's in fact been the case with Monte Morris manning the starting lead-guard position 25 games--all of them--this season.

Morris has started at the point nightly since Oct. 20, is logging a can't-get-higher 30 MPG, and although the efficiency is rather low (0.78 FP/min) because of those bulky minutes, the truth is that if only on pure brute force Monte is playing to a nice level all things considered. Morris has had his best two weeks of the season in the past two getting back to Nov. 26 through last Thursday. He's averaged a 14-3-5 per-game line in 32 MPG and he's just once scored fewer than 10 points in a single game.

The truth is that Monte Morris is your average, classic point guard. He's going to hit shots (nice three-point upside with 2.0 3PM per game in the past seven matches) and dish out dimes (4.3 APG on the year, 5.0 in the last two weeks of play). That's it. There will be rebounds here and there, but always on the low side of things (2.7 RPG this season) while the steals were kinda good to start the year but have gone down of late. The shooting percentages are sublime, though, with Morris attempting 11 FGA (more than healthy) per game and scoring those shots at a 46.3% season-long clip and an impressive 50.4% in just the past six games.

Fantasy Basketball Deeper-League Waiver Wire Adds for Week 24: Isaac Okoro, Kris Dunn, Josh Richardson, Corey Kispert, Delon Wright

The deeper a fantasy basketball league, the harder it is to hit a winner with your last few picks. It is also harder to find decent help from the waiver wire if your late-round picks don't do you justice. If you picked up a few stinkers, don't lose hope just yet. I will try to... Read More

Onyeka Okongwu (SF/PF, ATL): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 16% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Hawks are currently the 10th seed in the East but are also tied for 8th and 9th with Brooklyn and Charlotte respectively. There's even a chance (albeit small) that Atlanta could rise as high as to reach the 7th seed if... Read More

Immanuel Quickley (PG, NYK): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 48% of leagues ANALYSIS: If we use common basketball sense, then the New York Knicks and Coach Thibs should try and see what the young guys such as Immanuel Quickley have in them and what they can provide the franchise with ROS, as the NYK are... Deni Avdija (SG/SF, WAS): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 37% of leagues ANALYSIS: One would reasonably think that a player seeing a playing-time boost such as that of Deni Avdija's this month would make said player drop his efficiency numbers. Well, not the case for the Wiz Wing by the looks of it. Avdija has... Read More

Nicolas Claxton (PF/C, BRK): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 24% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Nets can finally rest assured they'll make the play-in portion of the season. Not quite what you expected when the season got rolling back in October, but at least more than what the Lakers would have accomplished a week from now.... Read More
