ANALYSIS: Myles Straw has taken just 18 AB at the MLB level in 2019 (27 in total), and it hasn't taken him long to make an impact for the first place Houston Astros. With a call-up in part prompted by the transfer of George Springer to the IL, the 24-year old rookie has already hit for a game-winning triple (in the 14th inning) and has somehow already stolen three bases. This brings Straw's major league stolen base total to five (in five tries) in a mere 29 plate appearances. While it is true that Straw's offensive capabilities are limited, he may be one of the most dangerous men on planet earth when running the base-paths.

His work at the plate, from an all-around perspective, has been modest throughout his career in the minors. He holds a .766 OPS and a mere four home runs in 1,744 AB across five minor league seasons, and he has performed even worse at the Triple-A level to the tune of one dinger and a .689 OPS (though a .270 BA and .357 OBP) in 455 AB. That is all second page news, because the St. Johns River Community College alumni has stolen 167 bags in 208 attempts over his minor league career, and has swiped an ultra-efficient 51 bases in 60 tries at Triple-A.

He is a physically gifted runner, as he has accomplished these feats with a sprinting speed of 29.5 feet per second, a figure which measures best on the team in Houston. He has competition to contend with for playing time even with Springer out for a couple of weeks, but he is a player that is put on the field specifically to be greased lightning, so he makes an excellent option for steals and runs in deeper leagues.
