NASCAR Xfinity Series: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks for Darlington Steakhouse Elite 200 (5/8/21)

The NASCAR Xfinity Series is back this week, and we're superspeedway racing at Talladega!

Austin Cindric starts on the pole, while the current best superspeedway driver in the series, Justin Haley, rolls off fifth. Talladega is always chaotic, so expect to make more lineups than you usually would if you're hoping to win some money, and don't prematurely start counting those dollars, since everything can change in a moment.

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Xfinity Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Xfinity DFS lineup picks for the Ag-Pro 300 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Xfinity Series including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station.

Justin Allgaier #7 ($10,700) - Starting 16th

Lots of people will have Ty Gibbs as the top play this week, and with his track record in Xfinity, I have no issue with that other than to say that he's still a rookie at Darlington, which is historically not a good combination.

So, I like the pivot to Allgaier. He starts 16th, so there's still some nice place differential upside there, but there's the added benefit of Allgaier running some solid laps here. A 31st place finish last year broke a string of six top-11 finishes in a row at this track, and Allgaier has been running well at non-superspeedway races lately. I'll go with his experience.

A.J. Allmendinger #16 ($10,100) - Starting 1st

Allmendinger has the best chance of anyone to get out front early, lead a bunch of laps, and come away with a victory.

While he's never raced her in Xfinity, he does have 11 Cup starts here. They weren't great races, but he's only DNFed here once in Cup.

A.J. has five top fives this season in Xfinity, and twice he's led 40-plus laps. He and Austin Cindric are probably equally viable picks to dominate, but I'm slightly leaning on the experience of Allmendinger.

Josh Berry #8 ($9,100) - Starting 24th

This could be a race of attrition, so I'm targeting more PD guys than I might usually.

Like Josh Berry, who starts 24th in a JRM car. Berry won at Martinsville, a track that isn't comparable to Darlington in terms of size, but is in terms of how physical things can get. Berry can race the hell out of a car at a place like this, and even though he doesn't seem to have experience at Darlington itself, I trust him to figure this place out.

BJ McLeod #90 ($7,400) - Starting 38th

McLeod is in the 90 car this week, which makes him an incredibly intriguing play.

The 90 has had a lot of ups and downs this year, but there's also been three top 20s with Caesar Bacarella, Dexter Bean, and George Gorham Jr. driving this car.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say McLeod is a better driver than those guys. And because of that, I think there's a ton of place differential points available this week for this team. I know McLeod has an average finish of 25.8 in his Xfinity career, but I think a top 20 is easily within reach this week.

Ryan Vargas #6 ($6,400) - Starting 34th

A driver who has really struggled this year, with an average finish of 29.1. But he was 25th here last year in his third start of the season, and JDM cars have some solid speed compared to other backmarker teams.

I think there's some decent PD appeal this week. He won't be a popular play, but sometimes the unpopular play is how you make that money, because a strong run from a low-rostered driver can be a nice help for your lineup.

Tanner Berryhill #23 ($6,200) - Starting 36th

One of the most interesting plays this week for me is Tanner Berryhill, mainly because he's driving the Our Motorsports 23 car.

Berryhill has made 40 Xfinity starts, with an average finish of 31.6. His last Xfinity race that he started was in 2014. Literally nothing about his track record suggests you want to roster him.

But Natalie Decker was 24th in this car last week. Tyler Reddick had some solid runs in it earlier in the year, and Blaine Perkins got a 24th in it at Phoenix. This is an interesting car at this point. I'm not sure if Berryhill is an interesting driver, but I think there's enough intrigue here for me to get him into some lineups just to see what happens.
