Analysis: While pitching in a park such as Yankee Stadium, a HR/9 of 1.5 shouldn't come as a big surprise, even for a pitcher like Nathan Eovaldi who holds a fantastic career HR% of just 1.7%. In four starts this season Eovaldi has a 4.38 ERA, a 3.52 FIP, a 1.135 WHIP, and a remarkable 1.8 BB/9. The pleasant surprise about Eovaldi this season is his increased inclination for strikeouts in contrast to the extra HR he is allowing. While he had never averaged more than 7.1 K/9 in his five previous Major League seasons, Eovaldi is averaging a razor-sharp 10.2 K/9 so far with the Yankees in 2016. By seeking out more strikeouts this season, Eovaldi is inevitably leaving himself more vulnerable to the long ball.
