ANALYSIS: The word trustworthy and Yankees starting pitcher have not found themselves this close to each other in a sentence yet this season. Eovaldi isn't exactly Mr. Reliable either with his 4.85 ERA, but certain individual performances early in 2016 deserve him a mention. As fantasy owners, it's not desirable to wait around for dominant performances simply because of the starting pitchers capability. But in the backend of a rotation for deeper leagues, Eovaldi fits in perfectly.
Eovaldi flirted with a no-no late in April, pitching seven shutout innings of two-hit baseball against the Texas Rangers. At Texas, might I add, one of the friendliest hitters ballpark in the whole league. More recently, Eovaldi shut down the rivaled Boston Red Sox, allowing only two runs over eight innings of work. His K/9 is up and his BB/9 is down. It's really been the long ball that has plagued him in his young career. He's surrendered 10 HR in seven appearances so far while his HR/9 is at an unfavorable 1.48. But right now, I'm interested in his possibility and potential more so than his current statistics.
