Worth the Investment
Brandon Jennings (DET, PG) - $7,900
He may be only the ninth highest priced point guard tonight, but he might be the most owned. Jennings has seen a spike in production since Josh Smith was released, including a huge game Friday night against Indiana.
Since the start of the New Year, Jennings has been averaging well over 30 fantasy points per night and has only been under 30 in three of nine games. Along with playing well of late, he also gets a dream match-up against a Sixers team that struggles against nearly every position on the floor, most notably point guard.
Kenneth Faried (DEN, PF) - $6,800
After a miserable start to the season, Faried has turned it on of late and become the double-double machine we all assumed he would be. Prior to last night, the Manimal had posted double-doubles in eight of 10 games, including three games of 19+ rebounds.
Faried is generally only a contributor in points and rebounds, however he has been chipping in over one block nearly one steal a night over the past few weeks, which boosts his value significantly.
At a huge savings over the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin, Faried should put up another big double-double against a Timberwolves team that offers little to no resistance to opposing post players.
Marc Gasol (MEM. C) - $8,300
Center is a position that you will need to spend up on tonight. Studs like DeMarcus Cousins, Andre Drummond and DeAndre Jordan are all on the board, but Gasol makes for the best play tonight. The Grizzlies center does not wow with huge fantasy nights, but is the one of the most consistent plays in all of daily fantasy NBA having put up over 30 fantasy points in all but one of his last 10 games.
Gasol is a full $3,200 cheaper than Cousins tonight and gets a plus match-up against a Portland team that is playing a platoon of Chris Kaman and Meyers Leonard at center. Gasol may not have huge upside in a GPP, but as a cash game play you will not find a better play than Gasol tonight.
Top Sleepers
J.J. Hickson (DEN, PF) - $4,500
When Timofey Mozgov was dealt earlier this month, everyone jumped on the Jusuf Nurkic bandwagon. Despite Nurkic playing well, Hickson has been an equally solid play despite far less fanfare. He has been over 23 fantasy points in four straight games which would easily get him to 5x value tonight.
Like Faried, Hickson faces a Timberwolves team that struggles in the post as evidenced by their last meeting which saw Hickson post a 16 point and 11 rebound double-double.
Matt Barnes (LAC, SF) - $4,400
One of the least flashiest plays in all of DFS, Barnes should be incredibly low owned while providing a solid option at just $4,400 of your team cap. The steady Clippers' wing has been over 24 fantasy points in half of the team’s past 10 games and has yet to be less than 10. Those numbers do not overwhelm, but for this price you are not likely to find a player with a higher floor.
The best news is that Barnes is a lock to get over 30 minutes which, is all you are looking for in a player at this price level.
