Friday Night NBA DFS Picks

There are many things to take advantage of when finding players in NBA DFS contests. You have to take into consideration hot streaks, minutes and games played, but most importantly matchups.

Each of the following picks will take all of those factors into consideration, but will mostly look at matchups. It is Friday night, which means there will be plenty of games to attack.

Prices & Position Eligibility Based on FantasyScore NBA Player Pool

Guards to Consider

Jose Barea (MIN, G) - $2,200

Barea is not the sexy pick, but he just may be the smart one. He is a value play due to his low price, but he is playing nice minutes because of the injury to Devin Harris.

Barea is scoring over one fantasy point per minute and has been getting slightly over 20 minutes per game over the last four. The Lakers are the worst team in the NBA against point guards, so Barea will look to take advantage of that tonight.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (DET, G) - $4,200

Caldwell-Pope has had a very up and down sophomore campaign so far. His price is fairly low because he is a very risky player. Some games he scores 20+ while in others he scores under 10 fantasy points.

Caldwell-Pope is very reliant on scoring, which causes worry about any cold start. However, he gets a dream matchup Friday night against Atlanta, who has played the worst defense in the NBA against two guards to this point. While KCP is a bit of a risk, he has plenty of upside and will not break the bank.

Forwards to Consider

Wilson Chandler (DEN, F) - $4,000

Chandler is on fire! The 27-year-old swingman has scored 33 points with 18 rebounds over his last two games. He is also shooting the ball more over the last couple of contests, which can only help his fantasy outlook. He has also seen a slight uptick in minutes recently, which is a nice sign because it means the coaching staff is beginning to trust him more.

Chandler gets a great matchup against New Oreans, who has the 26th ranked defense in the NBA against small forwards. It is a good idea to ride Chandler during this hot streak.

Nene Hilario (WAS, F) - $5,100

Nene is coming off of a pedestrian performance against the Mavericks on Wednesday night, but there are not many matchups that bring a better opportunity for a bounce back than Cleveland? The Cavaliers are worst in the league versus power forwards, which is not surprising as they are still trying to figure their team out.

Nene's price has dipped a little due to his inconsistency so far this season, but he does have solid upside and a long track record. He is almost sure to find a rhythm soon and there is a great chance it happens tonight.

Center to Consider

Al Horford (ATL, C) - $6,500

Horford has been working his way back from injury and it has been a process. He has great games, but then has terrible ones, as well.

Before his 2013-14 season was ended prematurely, Horford was extremely consistent and a great all-around player. It would not be surprising to see him get back to that form at some point this year.

Horford received 30 minutes last game, which is encouraging to his outlook from here on out. He gets a solid matchup against Detroit, who is worst in the league at defending opposing centers. Horford should be able to find a groove in this one.
