NBA Fantasy Shopper: DFS Lineup Picks for DraftStreet 2/24
PG: Rajon Rondo ($15,146): After working out the rust in his first few games, Rondo has been his old self. In his past six, he has posted double-digit in assists in five and 10+ points in four of the games. He has also continued to be a master thief, with a steal or more in seven of his last eight games. The every-other-day pattern thus far would indicate that he will likely play tonight against Utah, but be sure to confirm that he is in the lineup before rostering him. The veteran Rondo should easily cover value tonight and show rookie point guard Trey Burke how to put up a big stat line.
SG: Tony Wroten ($7,856): Having traded away a good majority of their team, Philadelphia has had to play with a limited roster the last few games. That has meant good things for Tony Wroten’s fantasy value. In his past two contests he has 33 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Along with a lack of viable alternatives, Philadelphia has a great backcourt matchup against Milwaukee tonight, whose starting backcourt of Brandon Knight and Nate Wolters is one of the worst in the NBA at stopping the opposition. Wroten’s combination of ability, matchup and playing time makes him a great value play for tonight’s set of games.
SF: Jeff Green ($13,370): Green is one of the most frustrating yet rewarding players to own in all of fantasy basketball. In the month of February, Green had five games of over 20 points, but also had games of just 8 and 10 points. The positive is that he generally provides fairly consistent stats in the rebounding and assist areas. Coming off of a 29-point night against the Kings, Green, alongside Rondo, should be able to exploit the Jazz defense. If Jared Sullinger is forced to miss another game with his concussion, Green’s value only goes up.
PF: Dirk Nowitzki ($15,526): Unlike Green, Nowitzki is about the most consistent producer in fantasy hoops. In his last 13 games, he has topped 16 points every time while also pulling in over five rebounds in 10 of them. Dirk has also been a solid source of assists, too, having posted 12 in the Mavs last three contests. Combine that with stellar shooting numbers and you get a player that is almost a lock to hit his value tonight. The Knicks do have Tyson Chandler to anchor their defense, but since Nowitzki does most of his damage outside, he should have no problem abusing Carmelo Anthony for a big night.
C: DeAndre Jordan ($15,323): The league leader in rebounding, Jordan put up 12 or more rebounds in all but one game so far in February. His scoring has wavered in the past few games, but he has picked it up on the defensive end, where he is currently streaking at 12 games with at least one block. Jordan also has an amazing matchup tonight against new starter Greg Stiemsma in New Orleans. With starter Anthony Davis expected to be on Blake Griffin all night, Jordan should have free rein to grab a ton of boards tonight. A huge double-double is a near certainty tonight.
