NBA Fantasy Shopper: DFS Lineup Picks for DraftStreet
PG: D.J. Augustin ($16,925): After starting the season on the Raptors bench, not many would have expected him to be the main cog on the Bulls offense. However, filling in for the injured Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich, Augustin has been a fantasy stud. Over the past two weeks he is putting up 18.9 points, 6.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds a game. That includes putting up 27+ points in three of his past four outings. With no one to push him for playing time, Augustin is getting nearly 35 minutes a contest over the past few weeks. Tonight he plays an awful Minnesota defense that has a banged-up Ricky Rubio at the point, which should give Augustin the opportunity for a monster night.
SG: Lou Williams ($11,049): With the injury to Jeff Teague, Williams will see a boost in playing time and production tonight against the Thunder. In the Hawks last game, Williams put up a solid 18-point and 5-assist game against the Bucks. Even though Shelvin Mack got the start at the point, Williams also got 24 minutes in the game and was able to hit 3 three-pointers. Look for another solid outing from him tonight as the Thunder will be focused on stopping Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver.
SF: Gordon Hayward ($14,510): Since returning from a five-game absence due to injury, Hayward has picked up his hot play. In the two games he has played, Hayward has put up a combined 43 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Maybe the best news is that he has not been on a minutes limit which would have kept his value low. Hayward should be able to take advantage of a bad Kings defense that is likely missing its top wing defender in Rudy Gay.
PF: Channing Frye ($10,748): Coming off of a 2-point and 1-rebound stinker against Cleveland, many will be scared to pick the veteran big man tonight. However, prior to his last game Frye had scored in double figures in 11 of 12 January games. In those games, he has played a solid 31 minutes a night and averaged 14.7 points and 5.3 rebounds. Another big advantage Frye has is a matchup with a Sixers team that gives up over 110 points a game. Look for the Suns big man to get back on track and put up close to 20 points and 10 rebounds.
C: DeAndre Jordan ($16,509): Jordan is playing the best basketball of his career this month as he has put up double-digit rebounds in every game played in January. He is also contributing on defense, as prior to his last game he notched at least one block in his last 12 games including 7+ in two of them. His rebounding and blocked shots get him to value most nights, but when you add in the 10 points a game he is scoring this month, you have the recipe for one of the best fantasy centers going. He should be in for another big night in Milwaukee tonight as the Bucks have a putrid front line.
U: Jason Thompson ($9,198): Thompson’s value tonight will depend largely on the availability of Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins. If both of those players are out as expected, Thompson will be one of the only remaining bigs on Sacramento’s roster. He has been inconsistent scoring the ball of late but is always a solid source of rebounds while tossing in the occasional block. For a player who is likely to get well over 30 minutes, this price is too good to pass up as he should be able to be effective against the Jazz group of Favors, Williams and Gobert.
