NBA Waiver Wire (Week 6): H2H Offensive Category Streamers

It's never too early to start streaming. Whether you have an opening due to an injury, you auction-drafted a crew of stars and scrubs, or you just didn't bother putting any effort into your last couple draft picks, you probably have a player or two on your team who isn't must-own. You're better off using that roster spot to stream players to eke out wins in close categories in your weekly head-to-head matchups.

This year, RotoBaller will be making weekly recommendations for extreme short term category specialists every week in all six counting stat categories (points, assists, threes, rebounds, steals, and blocks). Your week six offensive category streamers for points, threes, and assists are below. All position eligibility and ownership percentages are based on Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Editor's Note: New users that sign up on FantasyAces, make a $20 deposit, and enter any game will receive BOTH our full season NBA and NFL Premium Passes for free, a $119.99 value. Just email info@rotoballer.com with your new FantasyAces username - and boom, that's it! We will email you with your Premium Passes.

Three Points Made Streamer

Nik Stauskas, SG, PHI, Opponents: Friday vs. ORL, Saturday vs. BOS (14% Owned)

My fellow Mississauga native has held down this spot for two weeks in a row. He’s really turned it around this season. Since last Wednesday, Nik Stauskas has averaged 30.3 MPG including a 43-minute OT loss to the Grizzlies. It’s looking like Brett Brown is committed to getting him minutes because of his ability to space the floor. He probably has a dry spell on the horizon, but let’s ride him while he’s hot.

Sauce Castillo has hit 2+ threes in eight straight, while notching a three in 16 of 18 games on 45.1 3P% for the season. Over the last two weeks, he ranks eleventh overall in three pointers made (21 3PTM). The guy’s a real Fredrick Zoller from 24-feet. Add in that Philly is averaging 32.7% of their points off treys (3rd in NBA) and it’s looking likely that Stauskas should pile together a few threes for your squad in the late week. Despite Orlando and Boston defending the three-ball well, Stauskas should still put up 2+ treys per game. 10/10 would recommend again.

Other Options: Terrence Ross, SG/SF, TOR (13% Owned); Tony Snell, SG/SF, MIL (4% Owned); Patrick Patterson, PF/C, TOR (11% Owned); Anthony Morrow, SG/SF, OKC (1% Owned)

Points Streamer

Rodney McGruder, SG, MIA, Opponents: Thursday @ UTA, Sunday @ POR (1% Owned)

The Miami Heat could set up a turnstile in the backcourt with all the injuries they’ve been dealing with in the season. Goran Dragic, Tyler Johnson, Dion Waiters, Josh Richardson, and Justise Winslow have all missed time with injuries. Rodney McGruder has stepped up in their absences, but Winslow’s return will likely spell the end for McGruder’s value. However, Justise isn’t travelling with the team on their three-game road trip. That means, Winslow’s earliest return date is December 6 at home vs. the Knicks. That gives us until next week to take advantage of Rodney McGruder starting numbers. Let’s dig out as much value as we can there.

McGruder started the last three games, but has posted double-digit scoring numbers in the last four straight games (11.0 PPG). Classic McGruder! Over that span, Coach Spolestra has given the rookie 33.4 MPG. If Spo is willing to continue that trend, then he should be able to hit double-digit scoring and rack up a few threes along the way. He should make a good streaming option with two games left in the week and is available in most leagues out there.

Other Options:  Jeremy Lamb, SG/SF, CHA (23% Owned); Nik Stauskas, SG/SF, PHI (14% Owned); Jameer Nelson, PG, DEN (10% Owned)

Assists Streamer

D.J. Augustin, PG, ORL, Opponents: Thursday @ MEM, Friday @ PHI, Sunday @ DET (4% Owned)

The Magic have been struggling on the offensive end, which has forced Frank Vogel to shuffle the lineup. Elfrid Payton and Nikola Vucevic are coming off the bench, while Bismack Biyombo and D.J. Augustin have started the last two games. Who knows how long it’ll last. They’ve split the games, snapping the Spurs’ 9-game winning streak and dropping a close matchup against the Bucks. It’ll likely stick for the rest of the week, so let’s take advantage of it while it’s there.

Augustin’s made a career out of being better than a backup, but not being quite good enough as a full-time starter. He’s with his eighth NBA team, but it’s déjà vu all over again. He’s averaged 4.2 assists in the last six games, while starting in two of them. He’s only getting 25+ MPG as the starter, but it should be good enough to return value if you’re looking for the assists.

There are some great streaming options for dimes but it’s tough to pass up on Orlando’s three-game schedule in the late week. The opponents aren’t ideal for fantasy purposes because they’re all road games against defensive squads, but the totals should make up for that. Don’t be afraid to give him a quick look for your matchup.

Other Options: Sergio Rodriguez, PG, PHI (26% Owned); Andrew Harrison, PG/SG, MEM (13% Owned); Jameer Nelson, PG, DEN (9% Owned); Jose Calderon, PG, LAL (3% Owned)
