NCAA College Football Heisman Trophy Watch: Week 1

2015 Heisman Watch: Week 1

Check out all of RotoBaller's NCAA College Football articles, including top 40 team rankings and NFL draft rankings.

Rank, Player, Position, School Stats

*Number in parenthesis indicates position on chart last week.

1. Ezekiel Elliot(1) RB Ohio State 11-122-1 TD

Ohio State didn't need to ride Elliot as the Virginia Tech defensive scheme dictated throwing the ball more. Still it was a great start with a long touchdown run to get the campaign underway.

2. Nick Chubb (2) RB Georgia 16-120-2 TD

Picking right up where he left off last year when he filled in admirably for Todd Gurley.

3. Trevone Boykin (3) QB TCU 26-42-246 61.9% 1 TD 1 INT 18-92-1 TD

The team looked a little sluggish but overall Boykin was the straw that stirred the drink for the Horned Frogs.

4. Deshaun Watson (4) QB Clemson 18-22-194 81.9% 2 TD 0 INT 2-22-0 TD

Very good stats when you consider Watson only played the first half against Wofford.

5. Cody Kessler (5) QB USC 19-26-236 73.1% 4 TD 0 INT

Four touchdowns to start the season after losing his #1 target in this past draft. Solid start.

6. Dak Prescott (9) QB Miss. State 22-38-237 57.9% 2 TD 0 INT 8-72-1 TD

Prescott didn't make many mistakes and the defense couldn't get off the field. Game was closer than the score indicated but Prescott ensured no upset was going to happen.

7. Seth Russell (8) QB Baylor 15-30-376 50.0% 5 TD 1 INT 6-59-1 TD

Completion percentage was low, but six touchdowns total is a nice way to start the era after Bryce Petty.

8. Kentrell Brothers (NR) LB Missouri 16 tackles 1.5 TFL and 1 blocked kick

For at least one week we have defensive representation on the Heisman list. Brothers was astounding.

9. Justin Thomas (7) QB Georgia Tech 3-4-54 75.0% 1 TD 0 INT 3-2-1 TD

Less than 100 yards of total offense but as usual Thomas directed a near flawless offensive display.

10. Alex Collins (NR) RB Arkansas 12-127-1 TD

Brandon Allen almost leapfrogged his teammate to land on this list after throwing what was essentially a perfect game. Collins is the catalyst for this offense and he hopes to show he is just as effective without Jonathan Williams in the backfield with him.

Honorable Mentions: Dalvin Cook RB Florida St; Everett Golson QB Florida State; Brandon Allen QB Arkansas; Robert Nkemdiche DE Ole Miss; Devontae Booker RB Utah; Gunner Kiel QB Cincinnati.
