ANALYSIS: Nerlens Noel is in his first year with the Knicks, and while it has come with less playing time than he got with the Thunder last season, he has once again excelled in the department of defensive efficiency. In 16.8 minutes per game, Noel has averaged 3.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.6 blocks, though he did have to miss Sunday's game again the Clippers due to a groin issue.
Now in his seventh season, Noel still performs with elite efficiency on the defensive end, and if he had enough playing time to qualify, he would rank second in the NBA in steal percentage (3.o%) and block percentage (9.4%), continuing to make a quantifiable disruption for opposing offenses in an established backup role. While he can't be counted on for any kind of scoring contribution, he makes a consistently meaningful impact in the categories of rebounds, blocks, and steals, and those totals have translated to effective output in point formats as well. Even if zero opportunities arise for more playing time behind Robinson, Nerlens Noel is an opportunity for those in deeper formats while he's still available.
