NHL DFS Lineup Picks (3/30/16): FanDuel & DraftKings Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for Wednesday, March 30th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

Three games make up Wednesday's card. On a night with such a small slate, it's important to spend big in certain areas, as you risk leaving valuable fantasy points on the table if you draft a more well-rounded team. It always helps to pick the right punts, of course, those cheaper than $4,000, freeing up necessary cap space.

Alex Ovechkin and Claude Giroux are two obvious choices since they are a couple of the top skater-options on Wednesday. Plenty of value options are listed below to go with some of the more expensive names. For updated goalie confirmations, check out leftwinglock.com.

NHL DFS Picks for Wednesday, March 30th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Andrew Hammond - Goaltender, Senators (DraftKings - $7,700 FanDuel - $ )

Considering his 2.72 goals against average, Hammond has not had much luck this season. He's only won five games in the backup role compared to his nine losses, giving up three goals or less in eight straight games. Earlier in the month, Hammond pitched a shutout, but got the loss as the Ottawa Senators dropped one in a shootout to the St. Louis Blues. Hammond faces the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday who are in the bottom 10 of goals for per game and in the top 10 of goals scored per game.

John Gibson - Goaltender, Ducks (DraftKings - $7,900 FanDuel - $ )

Gibson is coming off an impressive showing against the Edmonton Oilers where he saved 27 of 28 shots. He has had a slightly inconsistent stretch of late but is capable of getting hot. Gibson won five straight at the end of February into the beginning of March and has a solid matchup against a Calgary Flames team that gives up the most goals per game in the league.

Mika Zibanejad - Center, Senators (DraftKings - $4,800 FanDuel - $ )

Zibanejad has picked up seven points in seven games, four goals and three assists, and is a multiple shots on goal threat every time his skates hit the ice. Zibanejad is an affordable option who also posts the occasional blocked shot. The Senators visit the Jets, a team that allows the sixth most goals a night in the NHL.

Sam Bennett - Center, Flames (DraftKings - $3,900 FanDuel - $ )

I normally don't like recommending players that are facing the goalie on your lineup, but on a night with only three games, you likely don't have much of a choice in order to avoid a ton of overlap. Bennett scored two goals in his last game, after not scoring a goal in over 10. Bennett spends a decent amount of time in the penalty box and is an even more affordable option that will help free up more cap space for the bigger names below.

Blake Wheeler - Winger, Jets (DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $ )

Wheeler has accumulated nine points in his last 10, two goals and seven assists. He's also picked up a point in five straight games and is more than capable of posting multiple blocked shots and multiple shots on goal per game. In his last contest against the Philadelphia Flyers, Wheeler scored a goal, put the puck on net seven times, and blocked two. Wheeler should be used in both tournaments and cash games.

Jason Chimera - Winger, Capitals (DraftKings - $3,600 FanDuel - $ )

Chimera has been an assist threat of late, posting three in his last four. He's also added a goal in that span and puts the puck on net often as well. Chimera won't blow anyone away with his performances but he's very cheap and doesn't have to do much to hit value. It also helps playing on the Washington Capitals. Chimera should be used strictly in GPP contests, for both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Erik Karlsson - Defenseman, Senators (DraftKings - $8,300 FanDuel - $ )

What else needs to be said about Karlsson that hasn't already been said this season. He's been an absolute beast, especially in the assists category, posting 62 on the season with four games to go. Karlsson has posted a point in three straight games and has blocked five shots in that span. He plays close to 30 minutes a night and should be considered for all contests.

Hampus Lindholm - Defenseman, Ducks (DraftKings - $4,700 FanDuel - $ )

Lindholm can contribute in every way for a DraftKings and FanDuel lineup. He spends plenty of time in the penalty box, beneficial for FanDuel, and can block multiple shots in a game, which caters to DraftKings users. He recently put the puck on net seven times against the Ottawa Senators and plays over 20 minutes a night. He's also contributed offensively more of late, posting seven points in his last eight games.
