Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for March 5th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

Another busy Saturday with 11 games in total today. The early slate (4 games) starts 1:00 pm et with the main slate (7 games) starting at the regular 7:00 pm et slot. For the purpose of the following picks we will be concentrating on the main slate.

There are two teams (WSH, CBJ) on the main slate that are playing on back to back nights. The Washing Capitals are also playing a whopping fourth game in five nights. It would be best to avoid Caps players for the most part tonight.

At this point there are two goalies confirmed starting. Philipp Grubauer will be starting for the aforementioned Capitals while James Reimer will be making his Sharks debut tonight at home facing the Vancouver Canucks. NHL DFS Picks for Saturday, March 5th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Ben Bishop - Goaltender, Lightning (Draftkings - $7,900  FanDuel - $9,300)

The Lightning are one of the hottest teams in the league winning eight games in a row and Bishop has put them on his back. He has won five straight games and only allowed six goals in that time with an impressive .963 save percentage. He will get a great opportunity to extend that streak on Saturday in a home matchup vs. Hurricanes who rank 25th in offense.

Patrice Bergeron - Center, Bruins (DraftKings - $7,300  FanDuel - $7,700)

The Capitals will be a good team to target on Saturday as they are playing a fourth game in five days. Bergeron is currently on a nice run with goals in two straight and three of his last four games. He leads the Bruins with 56 points in 65 games and provides a nice floor averaging over three shots on goal per game this season.

Blake Wheeler - Winger, Jets (DraftKings - $7,000  FanDuel - $7,000)

If you fade Ovechkin you are left with a nice group of wingers in the next tier. Wheeler leads the way with his shot volume as he has tallied 42 shots over his last 10 games and picked up nine points (three on the PP) with 17 penalty minutes.

Tomas Hertl - Winger, Sharks (DraftKings - $5,400  FanDuel - $5,300)

He paid off nicely last game with a goal and an assist in Vancouver and gets another shot at them at home on Saturday. He has been a fantastic value since joining the top line with Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton. He has tallied nine points in his last 10 games with 30 shots and two powerplay points.

Shayne Gostisbehere - Defense, Flyers (DraftKings - $5,900  FanDuel - $4,900)

The Flyers put up a stinker vs. the Oilers on Thursday and Ghost still hit value with six shots on goal. He was a -3 which hurt on FanDuel but still had a positive game. He gets a great matchup tonight vs. the Blue Jackets who rank 27th in goals allowed per game.
