NHL DFS Lineup Picks (4/30-31/16): FanDuel & DraftKings Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

NHL Fantasy Hockey

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for April 30th and 31st of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

With Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs now started, we'll have a bit of a different format for our picks. Today's article combines games for both Saturday and Sunday.

Things start off Saturday with an afternoon battle between New York and Tampa Bay in Game 2. The Islanders pulled off a bit of an upset in Game 1. Also meeting in Game 2 will be a primetime clash between the Capitals and the Penguins. Game 1 was an epic overtime battle that was won by the Capitals.

Sunday brings Game 2 in what's sure to be an entertaining series between the Stars and the Blue. Also taking place Sunday is another matchup between the Sharks and the Predators.

Check out my DFS picks for Saturday and Sunday below.

NHL DFS Picks for Saturday-Sundday, April 30th and 31st

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defenseman position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D-man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for Friday and Saturday's action.

Thomas Greiss- Goaltender, Islanders (DraftKings - $8,500  FanDuel - $9,700)

Greiss has been fantastic this postseason, racking up five wins in seven starts. He picked up the victory in Wednesday's Game 1 against Tampa and will look to keep rolling Saturday. His numbers in the playoffs have been great and he has quickly become a very popular DFS pick at goalie. In seven games Greiss has a 1.94 GAA and a .941 save percentage. There are a few solid choices in net Saturday and Sunday, but Greiss has to be considered one of the best options.

Brock Nelson - Center, Islanders (DraftKings - $4,300 FanDuel - $4,500)

With his two assists in Game 1 Wednesday, Nelson now has five points through seven postseason games this season. He's been a cheap source of fantasy production in daily leagues and that should continue in Game 2. There are some big names you'll want to target, so taking a value pick like Nelson will be necessary.

Nick Bonino - Center, Penguins  (DraftKings - $5,100 FanDuel - $5,600)

Bonino has been a sneaky source of production this postseason and he enters Saturday's tilt with a three-game point streak. He had a very solid Game 1 in Washington Thursday, picking up a goal and an assist. Playing with Phil Kessel and Carl Hagelin, Bonino has done a great job of creating scoring chances. Take him today while he's still rolling.

Jaden Schwartz - Winger, Blues (DraftKings - $ FanDuel - $)

Schwartz has been an absolute beast so far in the postseason. In the seven games with Chicago, he produced points in each of the final six. With three goals and seven assists, Schwartz is a must-start on both DFS sites as long as he stays hot. He's an even better play for FanDuel considering that all of his postseason goals have come on the power play.

T.J. Oshie - Winger, Capitals (DraftKings - $5,700 FanDuel - $6,000)

With so much talent on the Washington offense, it's sometimes tough to pick one for DFS lineups. Well, that's not the case right now, as T.J. Oshie is playing some great hockey at the moment. He put up a goal and three assists in six games against the Flyers and picked right up in Game 1 against Pittsburgh. He netted a hat trick, with the final goal coming as an epic overtime game-winner.

Colin Wilson - Winger, Predators (DraftKings - $ FanDuel - $)

Wilson was a big factor for the Preds in their seven-game series upset over the Ducks. He put up five points in that series and has quickly turned into one of Nashville's best offensive weapons. He had just 24 total points during the regular season, so this scoring outburst is a bit of a surprise. However, as long as he stays hot, he'll make for a good DFS selection.

Brent Burns - Defenseman, Sharks (DraftKings - $ FanDuel - $)

Burns has carried a price that's higher than most forwards all season, but he's been well worth the big bucks. Though listed as a defenseman, he plays with a great offensive mind. Burns will rack up points, shots, blocked shots, hits, you name it. You'll have to find value elsewhere, but taking Burns is almost always a sure thing.

John Klingberg - Defenseman, Stars (DraftKings - $ FanDuel - $)

Klingberg was quiet during the first four games of this postseason, but he woke up in the final two against the Wild with two assists in Game 5 and a goal in Game 6. He picked up an assist Friday night against the Blues. Klingberg isn't the fanciest pick, but he makes for a good selection for your DFS lineup.
