NHL DFS Lineup Picks (5/10-11/16): FanDuel & DraftKings Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for May 10th and May 11th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

The Washington Capitals will look to do something that has been done to them in a past playoff series. They face the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday night in another must-win. Look for plenty of Capitals to produce for Daily Fantasy.

Also, what's honestly better than a game seven during hockey playoffs? We can only hope that Dallas versus St. Louis Wednesday night goes into overtime, for our entertainment and Daily Fantasy. So I guess to answer my question of what's better than a game seven during hockey playoffs.

Overtime of a game seven during hockey playoffs.

NHL DFS Picks for May 10th and May 11th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Braden Holtby - Goaltender, Capitals (DraftKings - $8,600 FanDuel - $ )

After having the best record during the regular season, the Washington Capitals are fighting for their playoff lives. Down 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, on the road, the odds are certainly stacked against them. However, they did win game five. The momentum has slightly shifted. And perhaps it's time that the Capitals playoff disappointment comes to a halt, and they in turn do what the New York Rangers did to them two seasons ago. A comeback down 3-1 in a series is definitely doable when Braden Holtby is between the pipes. Holtby stopped 30 of 31 shots in game five and will give the Capitals a fighting chance at surmounting the series deficit. He was the league's best goalie this year for a reason.

Evgeny Kuznetsov - Center, Capitals (DraftKings - $6,200 FanDuel - $ )

Kuznetsov is way too good to stay this quiet. He has tallied only three points (one goal, two assists) throughout the playoffs after breaking out for 77 points in his third NHL season. He plays on arguably the best line in the NHL, in the middle of Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie. Kuznetsov was an assist machine all season, posting 57, and he's got my vote for the X-factor of the rest of the series.

Jason Spezza - Center, Stars (DraftKings - $6,100 FanDuel - $ )

Spezza has tallied a point in four straight games and is having a really productive postseason. Spezza collected nine points (four goals, five assists) in the first round against the Minnesota Wild, and has continued his solid play against the St. Louis Blues. He has accumulated 3o shots on goal and five power play points combined in the first two rounds. He's often on the positive side of plus/minus and should be used in all Daily Fantasy formats.

Justin Williams - Winger, Capitals (DraftKings - $5,000 FanDuel - $ )

Williams has also been productive of late, posting a point in three straight games against the Penguins. Williams can also very well play a role in the Capitals' potential comeback as his playoff experience is definitely favorable in these situations. He has played in 126 postseason games, scoring 32 and assisting 51. He's always a threat to put the puck on net and sees plenty of time on the power play. He was quiet in the first round against the Flyers, but it's wise to go with the hot hand now. Williams is affordable and can produce for Daily Fantasy lineups in multiple ways.

Mattias Janmark - Winger, Stars (DraftKings - $3,500 FanDuel - $ )

Janmark plays close to 15 minutes a game. While he doesn't see any ice time on the power play, he is still a cheap scoring threat. Janmark scored in Dallas' last game, and he should be a factor in the crucial game seven Wednesday night. Janmark has posted five total points so far this season but is capable of breaking out for multiple points in one night.

Jay Bouwmeester - Defenseman, Blues (DraftKings - $4,000 FanDuel - $ )

Bouwmeester is a solid defenseman candidate for Daily Fantasy because of his ability to help lineups without scoring or assisting. Bouwmeester spends a decent amount of time in the penalty box; 16 total minutes in his last 10 games. He also blocked four shots during game five and has 15 total over the 10 game span. He's also posted four points in the postseason and can free up cap space for the more expensive options on this list.

Trevor Daley - Defenseman, Penguins (DraftKings - $4,500 FanDuel - $ )

Daley has all the qualities of Bouwmeester for Daily Fantasy, but is a bit safer for putting up points. He has tallied five points in 10 games, spends his fair share of time in the penalty box and on the power play, and has blocked 12 shots so far. Look out for Daley to help the Penguins finish out the series. Or at least attempt to.
