Analysis: Hard to believe an Atlanta Brave is drawing any notice for good work at the plate this season, but Nick Markakis qualifies. Markakis always makes his living with a good overall slash line and the potential for double digit HR figures. Even though last season for the Braves was the first time in his career he had failed to reach at least ten homers, he still ended the year with a .296 BA and .370 OBP. This season Markakis has yet to hit a HR and has a BA of just .257, although his OBP is .364. Despite the long ball goose egg, Markakis is actually hitting for his highest XBH% since 2012 and is drawing a walk 13.6% of the time. He does look like himself when playing outside of Atlanta with a slash of .291/.397/.406. With OBP's of .345, .374, and .333 against LHP, RHP, and at Home, Markakis carries plenty of value even without his usual power kick.
