ANALYSIS: Nick Williams is hitting just .236/.304/.415 on the season and has largely functioned as the Phillies' fourth outfielder this season. Why recommend him? Well, with Rhys Hoskins on the disabled list and Aaron Altherr, Williams has a golden opportunity to play his way back into a more prominent role. He's hitting like he knows it, too; five of the six home runs he has hit in 2018 have come since May 13, which roughly coincides with his return to everyday play.

Williams hit .288 last year, with 12 homers and 100 R+BI in roughly half a season's worth of plate appearances. That average was always unlikely to recur given his propensity for whiffs, but Williams' .278 BABIP is lower than it should be based on his batted ball data, and it masks the fact that he's trimmed five points from where his swinging strike rate was as a rookie. His .356 expected wOBA is nearly 50 points higher than his actual mark.

Given the microscopic ownership rate, Williams is probably free to add in your league and is definitely worth a look in NL-only and deeper formats, with some potential for relevance in standard mixers.
