The New York Yankees have removed Ivan Nova from the starting rotation and will use him in the bullpen instead.
Nova, 28, was lit up for six runs without getting out of the second inning during his start on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The right-hander’s ERA has jumped to 5.11 with a 6-8 record. The bad start came after two straight quality starts.

The rotation for the Yankees will consist of CC Sabathia, Michael Pineda, Nathan Eovaldi, Luis Severino, and Masahiro Tanaka for the final few weeks of the season. Nova likely won’t have a regular role in the bullpen. If he pitches well in middle relief, he could be a possibility to make the postseason roster in October.
Nova has a career 4.31 ERA over six MLB seasons. His best season was in 2013 with a 3.10 ERA. In 2011, when he went 16-4 in his second big league season.
