ANALYSIS: Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines has 76 carries for 289 yards this season and has only topped 10 carries in a game twice this season. Even though he has not been an impact player on the ground, and only has three total touchdowns, his impact on the passing game makes him a waiver wire find. Hines has caught 52 passes for 314 yards this season, grabbing multiple receptions in five of his last six games.
Roles are key when looking at running back by committee situations and, no matter the turmoil in the Colts backfield, Hines is the receiving back. This is a good thing considering that Andrew Luck is a top-five QB once again and the Colts have scored 20 points or more in all but two of their games this season. Marlon Mack may have scored a touchdown last week against the Texans (and had back-to-back 125 yard rushing games this season), but Hines is actually the more valuable Colt back this season.
The Cowboys rank 7th against fantasy RB, so picking up and starting Hines this week may not be the best of ideas. A matchup against the Giants, who rank 27th against fantasy RB, in Week 16 is a much better move, although New York has not allowed a rushing touchdown in back-to-back weeks. Betting on Hines for Week 16 is still a good move (particularly considering that Tarik Cohen had 12 catches for 156 yards out of the backfield in Week 13 against the Giants).
