ANALYSIS: The Minnesota Vikings of recent times have been known for their reliance on exactly two wide receivers, with those two being Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. They've struggled to get consistent -- or, at times, any -- production from their third or fourth guys.
But Thielen is now dealing with a hamstring injury, putting his short term outlook in peril. If he misses time, someone's got to step up and be the WR2 in this offense, right?
That's where Olabisi Johnson comes in. The rookie out of Colorado State got off to an unmemorable start to his NFL career, with zero targets through Minnesota's first three games. But in the four games since, he's been targeted four or more times in three of those outings, and with Thielen exiting early on Sunday, Johnson caught four of his eight targets for 40 yards and a touchdown.
If Thielen is out, there's reason to think Johnson can step in and be at least somewhat productive. Maybe he won't put up huge numbers, but he could work as a streaming flex option in PPR leagues for owners looking for someone with upside who aren't afraid of the possibility that Johnson posts a dud.
