BALLER MOVE: Add in 15+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 27% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Oneil Cruz was a consensus top-25 prospect entering 2022, though that hype might have cooled a bit based on his lackluster .591 OPS for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians this year. Even still, his pedigree warrants strong consideration from those, at least, in deeper formats as the Pittsburgh Pirates contemplate what to do with the 23-year-old Nizao native.
Even with Cruz's poor minor league play in 2022, he has still produced eight XBH and eight steals in eleven tries, and Pittsburgh doesn't exactly have a plethora of appealing options in the middle infield at the moment. He is an absolute physical behemoth at the position, and during his professional career, he has produced 51 HR, 68 SB (27 CS), and a .273/.339/.452 slash in 1636 AB; with 14 XBH (five doubles, two triples, seven homers), nine steals in twelve tries, and a .230/.358/.452 slash through 135 AB at the Triple-A level. Slow start or not, Oneil Cruz has an amply open opportunity to break into the Pirates' big league rotation, and once there, he has all the potential to do statistical damage for Fantasy Baseball Managers in deep leagues.
