OwnersBox Quarterback Picks

On OwnersBox, you have the option of starting two quarterbacks as this is a Superflex contest.

Aaron Rodgers, GB ($7,200) - vs WAS

If you've been reading my OwnersBox articles, you might have noticed that I've been keeping my QB picks on the sleeper side. Not this week, or at least not with my top QB play, because we've got Aaron Rodgers against Washington.

No team allows more fantasy points to the quarterback position than Washington. Rodgers might not have the best collection of targets outside of Davante Adams, but he'll find people in this game, even if that's just him finding Adams 20 times or something.

I don't think we need to say more. Play Rodgers.

Tua Tagovailoa, MIA ($6,200) - vs ATL

The Falcons allow the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks and Tua returned from injury last week against Jacksonville to post one of his best games, going 33-for-47 for 329 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick. He also had three carries for 22 yards.

Maybe, uhh, Tua's actually going to be the answer in Miami, assuming he stays healthy?

Alright, let's not get ahead of ourselves. This is still a smash spot, especially with so many top QBs like Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, and Justin Herbert on a bye, which moves Tua up in the rankings. He's a QB1 play and is priced really well on OB.

OwnersBox Running Back Picks

Chuba Hubbard, CAR ($5,700) - @ NYG

One of my favorite stats is the positional attempt rate from AddMoreFunds, which keeps track of what percentage of the carries each player has by position.

So, over the last two weeks among running backs, Hubbard has 90.91 percent of the carries from Carolina's running backs, which ties him with Miles Sanders for third in the NFL over that span. With Chrstian McCaffrey out, Hubbard is getting a lot of work. He has 40 carries in the past two weeks, and posted 101 rushing yards against the Eagles.

And hey, the Giants are bad, so maybe we won't see the negative game script issue pop up this week!

Elijah Mitchell, SF ($5,400) - vs IND

While we're talking positional attempts, Mitchell missed a couple of games and then returned in Week 5. He had 81.82 percent of the positional rushing attempts in a game where the 49ers could never really get going.

Things should go better against this Colts defense, though it's worth noting they allow the third-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs. Considering the team has played Miami, Baltimore, and Houston the last three weeks, I don't want to hold that against them. The team allowed over 100 rushing yards in each of its first three games.

The concern with Mitchell is an increased Trey Sermon workload, but a healthy Sermon played two snaps last game, while Mitchell played 44. The volume should be here.

OwnersBox Wide Receiver Picks

Deebo Samuel, SF ($6,500) - vs IND

Speaking of this 49ers offense, I like Deebo Samuel a lot this week. He played 86 percent of snaps last week, getting nine yards. He only turned those into three catches for 58 yards, but that was with Trey Lance slinging the ball.

This week, Jimmy Garoppolo is back, which should allow Samuel to do what he does best: make positive plays out of Jimmy G's accurate (but short) passes.

I mean, Samuel has 10 or more targets in three of his five games, with a pair of 100-yard receiving games. As good as this defense is against the run is as bad as it is against receivers, as it allows the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position.

Rashod Bateman, BAL ($4,700) - vs CIN

Bateman made his NFL debut last week, playing 65 percent of Baltimore's snaps, getting targeted six times and turning that into four catches for 29 yards.

With Sammy Watkins out again, Bateman will serve as the No. 2 wideout again on a team that has allowed receivers to catch 91 passes, tied for the fourth-most in the league.

This is one of those boom or bust plays, but the Ravens drafted Bateman to eventually be Lamar Jackson's No. 1 receiver. They're going to work to get him the football
