Dez Bryant had a monster game on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, and then added in some controversy by leaving the field early. After his elite performance on the field, with 11 catches on 17 targets for 153 yards and a touchdown, Dez once again showed why he's one of the most controversial talents in all of football. With about 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the game, Bryant left the field and walked into the locker room early, clearly upset with the interception that Tony Romo had just thrown to seal the loss for the Cowboys.
Dallas had been leading for most of the game and was up by 23 in the 2nd half, but Green Bay came back to eventually win the game 37-36 in dramatic fashion, scoring with 1:31 left and then intercepting Romo to put the final nail in the coffin. Dez got fiery on the sidelines before heading to the locker room, clearly showing his displeasure and slamming his helmet on the sideline.
So what are we to think about Dez's latest controversy? If you recall, this is not the first Dez Bryant escapade this year, and he has already been questioned by the media and fans for his previous sideline antics and emotional displays with teammates. Does him leaving the field early look completely foolish, and contribute to him potentially losing the respect of teammates and fans? Some people would agree. Just take a quick look around Twitter or listen to the NFL post-game analysts - people are clearly disappointed and frustrated with his actions and perceived immaturity. On the other hand, Dez is an extremely passionate football player and a big-time competitor who wants nothing more than to win. Is it really that bad that Bryant left the game early?
I walked back to the locker room because I was emotional...it had nothing to do with my teammates we had it... We fought and didn't finish — Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) December 16, 2013
