Dustin Pedroia might not return from the DL until Sept. 10, according to The Boston Globe.
It’s a nagging hamstring injury that will force the Boston Red Sox second baseman to be out much longer than originally expected. Pedroia took batting practice for the first time but the hamstring isn’t ready for him to take the next step.
Earliest Dustin Pedroia will return to the #RedSox lineup is Sept. 10. Hamstring not ready.

Pedroia has missed the last 25 games and has only played in 75 games total this season. The 32-year-old former two-time World Series winner was having a solid season despite the constant injuries. He owns a .287 BA with 9 HR and 34 RBI this year.
It’s been a tough season in general for the Red Sox as they will miss the postseason for the fourth time in five years. The one time they made it, they won the World Series. They currently sit at the bottom of the AL East with a 55-66 record despite having so many stars on the team. Pedroia signed an eight-year, $110 million deal prior to the start of last season which means he might be the one of the only few big names that will still be with the Sox for the 2016 season.
