Hunter Pence was activated from the DL and make his 2015 debut right where he left off in the World Series.
Pence went 2-for-3, one for a double and scored three times, batting sixth for the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants.
The 32-year-old outfielder returned from the DL after he was drilled by a pitch during Spring Training. The injury was a broken left forearm just above his wrist. Pence missed all of April and half of May, but joined the Giants in the midst of their four-game series in Cincinnati against the Reds.
He was playing in the minors for a one-week rehab assignment to make sure all was well.
"My timing is good," Pence told ESPN.com before Saturday’s game. "I was seeing the ball great. I feel extremely strong and extremely fast, and the wrist feels healthy."
World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner is happy to have Pence back on the field for the now 19-18 Giants.
"We've missed him, not just as a player but his presence in the dugout and on the field," he told ESPN.com.
Pence is a career .284 hitter who can do it all at the plate and can swipe a few bases here and there. He’s a solid outfielder and his presence will be noticed immediately in the lineup as it already has.
