ANALYSIS: Well, Ronald Jones II is the starting running back in Tampa Bay now, so no need to keep Peyton Barber on your rosters or to grab him off waivers, right?
Well, about that. Jones started, but it was Barber who got late game usage after Jones fumbled on the penultimate drive for Bucs. Barber finished with 43 rushing yards on 11 carries and also added a four-yard reception.
The idea that this was suddenly Jones' backfield feels silly in retrospect. Yes, Jones is the more dynamic player and is far more involved in the passing game, but they each had 11 carries on Sunday. Barber was always going to remain a factor, even if he wasn't technically starting. His snap rate was only 26 percent on Sunday, but it's been pretty low all year anyways. As long as Barber is who Tampa turns to down near the goal line, he's got value as a potential RB4-type player. That's admittedly not great value, but it's better than nothing.
