PGA DFS: DraftKings Fantasy Golf Sleeper Picks and Advice for the Tour Championship

The golf season will culminate this weekend with the crowning of the FedEx Cup Champion at East Lake Country Club in the ATL. Jason Day cruised to victory last week demolishing the field and claiming the world number one ranking. 30 players will be in the field this week, making every selection to your team crucial. There will be no cut again, so players have four rounds to accumulate points. With a win this weekend, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson, or Bubba Watson will claim the the $10 million purse and become the FedEx Cup Champion.

Editor's Note: Our Partner DraftKings is hosting another huge Fantasy Gold tournament on September 24th. The $400K Drive to the Green is free to enter, and it dishes out $100K to the first place finisher!  If you sign up and make a deposit now, you’ll get a 100% bonus on your first DraftKings deposit and we’ll also give you free access to RotoBaller’s Premium 2015 Fantasy Football NFL Draft Kit (a $49.99 value).

PGA DFS Advice – Stats To Look At

-Par 4 Scoring Average

-Greens in Regulation

PGA DFS: Players Who Can Clinch the Championship

Jason Day ($11,600)

-Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: 5

-Strokes Gained Putting: 5

-Par 4 Scoring Average: 1

-Greens in Regulation: 6

-FedEx Cup Standing: 1

2014 Result: T4, 7-under

Day won yet again last week, tying Jordan Spieth for most wins on tour this season with five. Day is the hottest player on tour. I am picking Day to continue his roll, win this championship and become FedEx Cup Champion.

Bubba Watson ($8,700)

-Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: 1

-Strokes Gained Putting: 61

-Par 4 Scoring Average: 7

-Greens in Regulation: 13

-FedEx Cup Standing: 5

2014 Result: 14th, Even

Watson is not properly ranked for this tournament with players like Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose above him. Nothing against Johnson and Rose, but if Watson wins, then he wins the FedEx Cup. With that in Watson's mind the whole time, he will go out play his best game of golf. Watson will take the chances no other golfer does, but the risks can pay dividends. I would bet he plays great and out-performs Rose and Johnson at a cheaper price. Watson played very well last week finishing 10th and scoring 101.5 fantasy points.

PGA DFS: The Rest

Jim Furyk ($7,900)

-Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: 3

-Strokes Gained Putting: 117

-Par 4 Scoring Average: 11

-Greens in Regulation: 15

-FedEx Cup Standing: 16

2014 Result: T2, 8-under

With 30 players to choose from, finding a low owned player will be tough. Furyk will be one of the lowest owned players this week due to his withdrawal last week because of his wrist. His price is very cheap relative to how he usually performs, so if you have the guts to put Furyk in your lineup there's no better time.

Scott Piercy ($7,100)

-Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: 49

-Strokes Gained Putting: 103

-Par 4 Scoring Average: 76

-Greens in Regulation: 72

-FedEx Cup Standing: 20

2014 Result: DNP

Piercy had himself one good weekend finishing third at the BMW and advancing to The Tour Championship. That was Piercy's first good finish since he won The Barbasol Championship back in mid-July. His price is cheap, and to squeeze Day, Watson, and Furyk into my lineup I will have to take a flier.

Harris English ($7,000)

-Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: 57

-Strokes Gained Putting: 15

-Par 4 Scoring Average: 26

-Greens in Regulation: 51

-FedEx Cup Standing: 30

2014 Result: DNP

English made a birdie on his last hole to just break the cut line and get into this tournament. He finished 31st and 32nd the last two seasons after the BMW, costing him a chance to play the seasons final tournament. English is finally here and will show he belongs. Each leg of the playoffs he has performed better by four strokes, and his fantasy point totals have risen. He scored 62 points at The Barclays, 79.5 at the Deutsche Bank, and 87 at the BMW. If English can break 100 points this week, he will look like a bargain.

Sang- Moon Bae ($6,800)

-Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: 133

-Strokes Gained Putting: 39

-Par 4 Scoring Average: 116

-Greens in Regulation: 174

-FedEx Cup Standing: 28

2014 Result: DNP

After this tournament, Bae will be called to perform his two year service for South Korea. This will be his last tournament for some time then. Since his 6th place finish at The Barclays he has not performed well. Bae snuck into this tournament, but will go out on a high.
