BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 22% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Last week the Indianapolis Colts' star receiver T.Y. Hilton sustained a bruised knee injury which owner Jim Irsay stated would sideline him a 'few weeks'. At this time it has been reported that Hilton will be out at least two to three weeks. With Hilton sidelined Donte Moncrief will slide into his role, which has made him a popular waiver add this week. Another player who will benefit with Hilton sidelined is their 1st-round draft pick Phillip Dorsett from Miami. Dorsett struggled in his first professional game, fumbling twice on punt returns. However, there are some reasons why I believe Dorsett is a sneaky add.
We all know that the Colts have plenty of offensive weapons in Andre Johnson, Moncrief, Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen & Frank Gore. At first glance you would think that there will not be enough looks for Dorsett. In fact, it will be just the opposite--the defense will need to put their top defenders on those players, which would leave Dorsett matched up against the lower-echelon defensive backs. In limited work last week (17 snaps) Dorsett had two catches (on three targets) for 45 yards. Throughout the offseason reporters such as Marc Sessler stated that Luck "showed good chemistry" with Dorsett. Building trust with Luck will likely lead to more opportunities for Dorsett this season. Week 1 showed signs that the chemistry is developing.
Another reason why I believe Dorsett is a sneaky add is his speed. His draft profile comparison is similar to John Brown of the Arizona Cardinals. We all know that Brown is a deep-route receiver and I suspect that the Colts will utilize Dorsett in similar patterns. Usually this will lead to decent fantasy stat lines that make him a flex/WR3 play. Lastly, Dorsett is being mentored by Andre Johnson who helped DeAndre Hopkins develop into a star for the Texans. Having veterans around him like Johnson will also accelerate his development.
All in all, Dorsett is a nice waiver add for deeper leagues currently. If you are in a shallow league definitely place Dorsett on your watch list. It would not surprise me though that by the end of the season he will be highly owned.
