Kris Bryant Signs With Rockies
3 years agoThe Colorado Rockies are signing star third baseman Kris Bryant to a seven-year deal worth $182 million, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Passan. The pact includes a full no-trade clause for all seven seasons. Bryant, a six-time All-Star, was an MVP candidate in 2021 despite splitting the year between Chicago and San Francisco. When all was said and done, he finished the season slashing .265/.353/.481 with 25 homers, 73 RBI, a 10.6 percent walk rate, 23 percent strikeout rate, and .346 xwOBA. He spent time at all outfield and infield positions, second base excepted. From a team standpoint, it's refreshing to see a team like the Rockies make a huge splash even though they're not expected to be major contenders in 2022. Of course, Bryant remains a top fantasy target, and the fact that he'll play half of his games inside the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field only adds to his value.
