ANALYSIS: Preston Tucker is a name known to most fantasy players, but mostly due to his underperformance. Picked up to hold the spot for super prospect Ronald Acuna, Tucker has gotten off to one of the fastest starts among eligible batters with a .385 AVG, two home runs, and nine RBI. If you own Acuna, Tucker is the obvious play to take advantage of the free spot in the line-up. If not he is worth a play at OF4.
To be honest, Tucker’s limited MLB service time does not lend itself to much confidence regarding his long-term play, but one statistic does stand out: K%. 2015 was Tucker's best season with the Astros, and he posted a K% of 21.1. In 2016, he saw this surge to 27.8% which, in part, resulted in an AVG drop from .243 to .164. This year Tucker has the lowest K-rate of his career with a 17.2% line. If he can return to his 2015 season, owners should expect a better overall performance with plenty of opportunities in a deep line-up. Also, Tucker is posting his best BB% this season at 6.9%, while not comparatively great, shows a dramatic improvement over past stints in the majors.
