MLB DFS Prop Picks for 8/2/22
Braxton Garrett over 5.5 strikeouts - Garrett will be facing the Reds tonight who are posting a K rate of 26.4% against left-handed pitching over the previous two weeks, which is ranked seventh-worst in the league. They are also in the midst of a fire sale, which could lead to some additional strikeouts, especially considering they just traded Tommy Pham away. Garrett has also gone over this total in three straight, including eight strikeouts against these Reds in his most recent start.
Corbin Burnes over 8.5 strikeouts - Recent trends show this as a solid play. Pittsburgh is posting the highest K rate in baseball against right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 29.3% while also posting an abysmal wRC+ mark of just 53. Burnes has thrown double-digit strikeouts in three of his previous four starts and appears to be rolling right now as well.
Matt Manning over 3.0 strikeouts - This could be a bit dicey as Manning has only been worked up to 68 pitches in his first two starts this season, but the matchup on paper looks pretty solid and he did throw 85 pitches in his most recent AAA start. Minnesota is in an absolute funk right now as they are posting the fourth-highest K rate against righties over the previous two weeks with a rate of 27.3%. They are also walking at a clip of just 4.3% and only posting a wRC+ of 83.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. over 1.5 total bases - Vlad will be facing Drew Rasmussen who has been relatively tough this season, however, he has allowed six bombs and nine doubles to right-handed hitters this season. Vlad has been able to take care of righties this season as he has blasted 17 home runs and 18 doubles while also posting the second-highest OPS against them on the Blue Jays.
