The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Yasiel Puig on the 15-day DL with a strained right hamstring, according to the LA Times.
The star outfielder injured his hamstring during Thursday’s 1-0 victory against the Cincinnati Reds. Puig finished the game with a 2-for-4 performance. Jose Peraza will be recalled from Triple-A to replace to Puig’s spot on the roster.
It’s been an injury-plagued season for Puig as the 24-year-old has only played in 77 games. He was having a down year compared to his first two MLB seasons. Puig has a .256 BA with 11 HR and 38 RBI. He’s turned it around of late with a 10-game hitting streak. It’s been the best he’s looked at the plate in quite some time.
The Dodgers have won three games in a row as they prepare for a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs before they host the San Francisco Giants in a huge three-game showdown. The Giants trail the Dodgers by 2.5 games for the NL West crown.
