Raimel Tapia (OF, COL) - Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

ROSTERED IN: 33% of leagues

ANALYSIS: The Rockies' disdain for letting the players that most intrigue fantasy managers actually play is well-established at this point. After a couple of years as a part-timer, however, Raimel Tapia appears to have escaped that purgatory. Prior to sitting out on Sunday due to neck pain (he did appear as a pinch hitter, so this doesn't sound like a long-term issue), he had started in center field and hit leadoff in the first three games of Colorado's season. The 27-year-old collected a hit in each of those contests, including a home run on Saturday, and knocked in a couple of runs on Opening Day as well.

Tapia is a career .284 hitter, and posted a .321 batting average in the shortened 2020 season. He also stole at least 20 bases in four seasons as a minor leaguer, and is 25-for-32 at the MLB level. Given his role in the lineup, Tapia could plausibly contribute above-average numbers in three of the standard five categories, and has enough pop to not be a complete zero in home runs.
