The Texas Rangers activated Mitch Moreland from the 15-Day DL after he had surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow, according to Dallasnews.com.
The 14-19 Rangers could use the production from the first basemen/DH. Moreland was off to a good start in 2015, driving in 9 with a .302/.393/.457 batting line in 16 games.
The left-handed slugger missed exactly 15 days following surgery. He will see most of his time as the DH for Texas as Prince Fielder will primarily play first base.
“I feel good,” Moreland told the Dallas News. “I had some good at-bats and I certainly didn’t waste any hits down here.”
When he said he didn’t waste any hits, he meant it. Moreland struggled during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock. He carried an 11 at-bat hitless streak as he was called up for Wednesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
