Justin Forsett was Saturday’s surprise cut, and fantasy players who bought in late on the 30-year old RB are most likely scrambling to replace him.
Staying within the Ravens, there are only two running backs worth mentioning; Terrance West and Kenneth "Boobie" Dixon.

The Remaining Ravens Running Backs
For now, ignore Javorious “Buck” Allen, who had the most clear shot to RB1 glory and did absolutely nothing with it. Fantasy analysts may be tempted to argue that Allen is technically second on the depth chart, but Allen is most similar to a poor man’s Theo Riddick. If you owned Buck Allen already, Forsett’s injury shouldn’t change much.
Terrance West is the RB that needs to be owned today, as he has quickly become “one of the RBs” to “the RB” for the Ravens. West struggled in Cleveland, and was a no-show with his brief Tennessee stint, but he’s put together a decent enough preseason that the Ravens didn’t keep Forsett around. West will start for the team initially, and he is someone you should own if you were relying on Justin Forsett to start for you in Week 1. West will start, and though he may not have any higher ceiling than as an RB3, should take most of the snaps to start the season.
Kenneth Dixon is the more interesting name for the rest of the season. Baltimore personalities like Gerry Sandusky have noted that Forsett being cut might be because the Ravens are big on rookie Dixon’s potential more so than the other RB’s on the team, including West. Dixon’s knee injury complicates things. A “tweaked knee” means Dixon may miss a few weeks, but if you have the bench space or the budget, he’s worth a flyer in re-draft leagues. In dynasty leagues, the rookie becomes a must-add, as the Ravens have tipped their hand to who will be the workhorse of the future.
If you need a RB to start for you Thursday while you wait for players like Le’Veon Bell to start, roll with West. If you’re looking for a long-term solution, go with Dixon.
