Rays Activate John Jaso From 60-Day DL

The Tampa Rays activated John Jaso from the 60-day DL, according to MLB.com. The Rays’ catcher bruised his wrist on Opening Day, and after 10 weeks of rehab and Jaso is finally at 100 percent.

During his rehab assignment, the 31-year-old had seven hits and two walks in 28 at-bats between High-A Charlotte and Triple-A Durham. It was enough for the Rays to call him back up the main roster.

It’s the second stint with the Rays for Jaso. In his first at-bat in his return, he drew a walk. Before coming back to Tampa, he played two seasons with the Oakland A’s and one with the Seattle Mariners.

Jaso will see action as a utility player. He can play first base, catcher, the corner outfield positions and potentially become the full-time DH for the Rays. He is starting the nightcap of tonight's double-header against the Kansas City Royals.
