The Tampa Rays activated Nick Franklin from the DL and the infielder will likely join the team on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has yet to play this season thanks to an oblique strain. Franklin hit .286/.400/.333 for a batting line in his seven-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Duhram.
Franklin was expected to open as Tampa’s starting second basemen but that might not be guaranteed anymore. Logan Forsythe has become the new utility player for the Rays and has done with a .295 BA. Tim Beckham has done an OK job at 2B, driving in 13 runs.
Franklin is only in his third season after coming over from the Seattle Mariners in the middle of the season last year.
He has a career .206 BA in 130 MLB games. In 102 games in his rookie season, he had 12 HR. since then, he only has one.
