ANALYSIS: Rafael Betancourt was placed the DL today, retroactive to 7/15. It doesn't sound like he will miss much more time than needed, but Rex Brothers will serve as the fill-in closer until Betancourt is back. Brothers has put up elite numbers this year, with a 1.11 ERA / 1.16 WHIP and 42 K in 40 1/3 IP. He also racked up 4 saves filling in for Betancourt earlier in the year. He is an elite saves option while he has the job, and would be a top tier closer if the gig was his long term. Those looking for saves should add Brothers immediately.
