BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
OWNED IN: 24% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Rex Burkhead was a highly sought after sleeper candidate heading into 2018 fantasy football drafts, but has been largely forgotten about in 2019 thanks to missing a significant portion of last season due to a neck injury. He has started to pick up the pace in recent weeks and is worth an add in most 12-team PPR leagues.
Burkhead has seen his workload increased in the past couple of weeks. Most recently against the Jets, Burkhead carried the ball 11 times for 47 yards and a touchdown and added in six receptions on seven targets for 22 yards. Burkhead has seen a large portion of his work later in the game when the Patriots have been leading. This may continue to be the trend as they look to keep Sony Michel fresh deep into the season.
The Patriots will be facing the Bills, Redskins, Giants, and Jets in the next five weeks (they have a bye after Week 6). It is more than reasonable to expect them to be double-digit favorites in each of these games aside from the Bills' game where the line opened at Patriots -7.5. We can anticipate the Patriots jumping out to big leads in these games similar to their leads vs. the Dolphins and Jets in the previous two weeks, which will allow Burkhead to figure heavily into the offense. With bye weeks approaching beginning in Week 4, this could be a great stretch to get Burkhead into your lineups.
