Welcome back, RotoBallers, to my Rocket League DFS picks! I have been covering Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS as well here at RotoBaller, but today it's time to switch things up with another fast-paced and exciting ESport!
If you are reading this, you must be missing sports quite a bit but have found solace in DFS ESports! Rocket League is by far the closest thing we have to real sports being played right now. If you have never played or watched Rocket League, it is basically soccer being played but instead of using people, you are using cars! It is a 3v3 game and teams play a best of five series to determine the winner. Each match lasts 5 minutes long and players can rack up points by scoring goals, assists, taking shots, making saves on the net, scoring a hat trick, and becoming the game MVP (highest in-game score on the winning team).
Today I'll be bringing you my Rocket League DFS advice, analysis, and picks for DraftKings contests on April 11th, 2020 (3:00, 4:00, 8:00, 9:30 pm slates). Feel free to follow me on Twitter @rdr1634 and hit me up with any questions you might have.

Rocket League - Saturday Slates
Roster construction for Rocket League contests can be a tad tricky because you have four total spots on your team with two of those being captain spots and two of those being traditional flex spots. Captain spots gain 1.5x fantasy points but also cost a lot more money so constructing your roster starts with the captain spots and building around that.
It is suggested that you at least stack 2 guys from a team that you think will go off. Other builds that can work are:
- 2-2 (Two stacks from different games)
- 3-1 (Full-stack with a one-off from a second team)
- 2-1-1 (Two-man stack with two one-off plays from other games)
Saturday Afternoon Slate - North America Season 10 Promotion
3:00 PM: Stromboli vs. Rogue
This first game looks to be the closer matchup of the two afternoon games. Rogue is coming off of playing 18 games over the last two days so they should be in good form. They went 6-2 during the Spring Skirmish Tournament. Stromboli also participated in that tournament and went 1-2. When glancing back at some recent statistics, these teams match up pretty well.
Rogue scores 1.69 goals per game while Stromboli allows 1.61 goals per game. Stromboli, on the other hand, scores 1.81 goals per game while Rogue allows 2.06 goals per game so there’s a slight edge to Stromboli. Rogue is coming off of a great showing in the Spring Skirmish where they scored 2.67 goals per game and allowed 2 per game. Stromboli struggled in the three games they played so they do not seem to be in the best of form as of late.
Rogue gets a good amount of shots off as of late (10.67) and Stromboli allows 8.28 shots per game. Kronovi had himself a really good tournament averaging 1 goal per game while also getting off 3.94 shots per game. For his career, he is a .60 goal per game rate so he has been playing well compared to his career numbers. He adds great value and can be paired with Firstkiller who leads this team overall with a .69 goal per game rate. Firstkiller fires off 3.12 shots per game so he is a viable captain option on the early slate.
While they played poorly just a few days ago, Stromboli takes a solid number of shots (8.61) so chances will be there. Stromboli has a strong player in Hec who averages .83 goals per game and takes 2.58 shots per game.
JPow looks to add solid value as he has a .63 goal per game rate but takes three shots per game so he would be the one to pair with Hec. He also averages .45 assists per game so that only adds to using him in your Stromboli stacks. It seems that this could be a close game with Rogue edging out Stromboli in this matchup.
4:00 PM: Charlotte Phoenix vs. eUnited
Charlotte Phoenix is the strongest team on this two-game early slate. They average 2.47 goals per game while eUnited gives up 2.06 goals per game. In addition, they take 8.72 shots per game while eUnited allows 9.63 shots per game which means there is some high upside to using Charlotte Phoenix stacks.
Shadow is the strongest player on this CP team as he averages .85 goals per game and takes 3.19 shots per game which is the highest shot rate and goal per game rate on this slate. He is one of the highest upside plays on the slate and makes for a viable captain pick.
Turinturo and Karma round out this CP team and I think it is ok to pay down to get Karma into your stacks with Shadow. He has a .68 goals per game average to Turinturo’s .75 average and they both average over 2.5 shots per game. This offense generates lots of opportunities so getting a few pieces from them could help you take down a tournament.
There’s not much to really like from the eUNited side of this game. Hockser and Roll Dizz both average .5 goals per game while ayjacks averages .47 goals per game. CP allows opponents to score 1.59 goals per game and eUnited only scored 1.25 goals per game over their last 32 games in last year’s North America RL regular season.
The ownership might be down on the eUNited side and these would be risky one-off plays to differentiate your lineup from the field.
Saturday Night Slate
8:00 PM: Cringe Society vs. Ground Zero
Cringe Society draws a tough assignment going up against the top scoring team in the league in Ground Zero. Ground Zero is averaging 2.96 goals per game and takes the 2nd most shots at 9.85 shots per game. Cringe Society is a very good defensive team as they only allow 1.6 goals per game and limit opponents to 7.52 shots per game as well. In their lone match, Ground Zero won a competitive match of 3-2 and we could see a similar scenario again.
Julz is tied with Amphis with the most goals scored in the league (31) and has the 3rd most shots taken in the league (102). He had four goals scored in the regular season match against Cringe and is once again viable on this slate. His running mate Decka is right behind him with 29 goals scored on the season and has taken the fifth most shots in the league (89).
Decka only had two goals against Cringe but can easily turn it on and should not be overlooked on this slate. Express is a good value if you have some salary tied up and need to get exposure to this game. Cringe Society doesn’t look to have enough upside in this match since Ground Zero is a solid defensive team and should out play them in this match. This seems to be a good fade from a fantasy standpoint.
9:30 PM: Fury vs. Mindfreak
In their lone regular-season matchup, Fury manhandled Mindfreak in three straight games in a best of five series. The stars shine brightest on the biggest stages and that is exactly what Amphis did by notching four goals and four assists in those three games.
Kenny Salmon scored a goal in each of the three games on 10 total shots while Amphis took 12 shots and they are the two to really use in this matchup. Amphis is averaging 1.15 goals per game which is second-highest in the league, right behind Julz.
Mindfreak allows the lowest per game goal total in the league with 1.59 goals while also allowing only 7 shots per game. The only way they stay in this game is if they can limit Fury’s opportunities and chances but based on that first game, they didn’t do a good job at all.
Mindfreak has the lowest shot output per game on this slate but averages just above two goals scored per game which matches up with what Fury allows per game. The best player and only one that is worth looking at is Fever. Outside of him, they haven’t shown the upside that you would like from a fantasy perspective so it is best to look elsewhere.
