For the third time in four games Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson has been outplayed by Ronnie Hillman. So, does this mean that Anderson is no longer the lead back for the Broncos? If I was to take an educated guess I would say Hillman is the starter next week. Currently Anderson is sporting a measly 2.7 yards per carry for the season, which is the lowest average for any players who receive 10+ touches a game.
Meanwhile, Hillman is sporting better stats in all categories with 190 yards rushing (4.9 yards per carry) and two Touchdowns.
During the preseason head coach Gary Kubiak expressed enthusiasm in Hillman's abilities stating Hillman "deserves more reps" and called him a "1B runner behind C.J. Anderson". This was the first sig that Hillman would get more opportunities this season as time went on. In the offseason the Broncos made coaching changes and it seems the new offensive scheme has impacted Anderson. Since there has been a lack of production by Anderson up to this point it's hard to see him any more than a low FLEX play until he produces.
If Hillman is available on your waiver wire I'd suggest targeting him. It's likely that Hillman will get more opportunities next week.
