Ryan Zimmerman (Oblique) Done For The Year

Ryan Zimmerman is officially done for the year thanks to an oblique injury.

The Washington Nationals first baseman has been making progress from a left oblique issue that he’s been dealing with for a few weeks now. Zimmerman isn’t going to see any action for the final two series of the season since the Nats are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.

“At this point, to push him is not smart,” Nationals manager Matt Williams told The Washington Post. “He’ll continue to strengthen, start his offseason program and make sure he’s on that path and getting going again for next spring.”

The 31-year-old will finish the 2015 season with a .249/.308/.465 batting line with 16 HR and 73 RBI. Despite some impressive numbers and some hot streaks throughout the course of the season, Zimmerman will only play in 95 games this year, which makes his total for the last two seasons at 156 games.

Zimmerman is signed through 2020 for a total of $78 million.
