ANALYSIS: After a great run of games from mid-February on, when he was thrust into the starting lineup by the Pistons, rookie Saddiq Bey seemed to come back to earth a bit in March. Now, with the AS break in the rearview mirror and a few more games played, Bey has raised his numbers a bit... or a lot, depending on where you look at. Sure, he had three lowly outings coming off the break, but his Wednesday's masterpiece against Toronto was one to behold and his first game as a pro.
Facing the Raptors, all Saddiq Bey did was log near or season-highs in minutes (39), points (28), rebounds (12), steals (2), and shooting prowess (6 triples, 57% from the floor, 6-for-6 from the charity stripe) without a single turnover on a 19% usage rate. That 28-12-2-2 performance is definitely not Bey's nightly average, nor his challenge to seek as a rook in one of the worst teams in the league, but it shows Bey's upside and why you should be seriously targeting him as a potential WW addition.
Bey is scoring 13+ PPG, pulling down 5+ RPG, and dishing out 2.0 APG since he started for the first time in his current streak of 14 starts at either forward position for Detroit. His minutes are up at 31+ a night, he doesn't know how to stop hitting treys (almost 3 3PG in that span), and he comes with steals upside while cutting the turnovers to a bare minimum (0.5 per) which makes him a viable player in 9-cat leagues too. Must-add in virtually every 10+team league, if you ask me.
