ANALYSIS: Detroit is the closest to a pure rebuilding franchise we have in the Association these days. The Pistons have plenty of young, unproven players in their squad, and also a bunch of veterans (namely Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose) they'd be better off moving before the trade deadline. Saddiq Bey is part of the former group and after getting drafted with the 19th-overall pick of the last draft he's starting to show his talents in Motown.
Bey started the season alternating 30-minute (all starts) with below-20-minute games (all as a reserve) for the first six games until Detroit gave him 30 and 24 minutes on back-to-back matches against Milwaukee this week. When he's been given enough minutes, Bey has been incredible for someone rostered in just a measly 8 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Just this past Wednesday, facing a stout Milwaukee squad, Bey logged his first dub-dub just seven games into his young career thanks to a 20-10 effort that included 6 (!) triples. He had scored 5 treys three games back when he dropped 17 pops on Boston to kick 2021 off on Jan. 1st. Bey's shooting is improving (from 20.2 FG% in his first 3G to 39.8% in his last four), he contributing all across the board (10-5-1), and it looks like Detroit will start giving him more minutes. Win-win situation for the rook and fantasy GMs.
