Chances are you didn't have San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin in your starting lineups for Week 5. That's a shame, especially considering the 35-year-old had his best game of the season on Sunday night against the New York Giants.
Boldin hauled in eight of his 12 targets for 107 yards and a touchdown against the G-Men. Although the 49ers brought in former Baltimore Ravens home-run threat Torrey Smith in the offseason, Boldin is still the team's No. 1 receiver. Unfortunately, he will struggle with consistency throughout the season due to who he has throwing him the football.
So, is Boldin safe to start in fantasy football leagues? Simply put, no.
As long as Colin Kaepernick is having an up and down season, Boldin will remain a risk. He is a risky WR3 and a safe WR4. Only start him if you have to because your other options are injured or on a bye week.
