Santiago Casilla (RP, OAK) - Closers and Saves Waiver Wire Adds

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Saves Leagues

OWNED IN: 36% of Yahoo Leagues

ANALYSIS: After an entire off-season of speculation, the Athletics may have tipped their hand on their closer for this season. Last night, Santiago Casilla nailed down the first save opportunity for Oakland. Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle were not chosen to close the game out, and were brought in to pitch the eighth inning instead.

Update: On Tuesday April 4th, Ryan Dull was brought in with a save opportunity, but gave up a three-run home run to blow the game. This may have been his opportunity to jump to the top of the Oakland bullpen depth chart, but he failed in closing out the game.

Madson, Doolittle or Ryan Dull may still be in the saves mix, but it looks like Casilla is the man to own for now. He racked up 115 saves for the Giants over the past five seasons, while putting up about a strikeout per inning. The experience is certainly there, so the gig may be his to lose.

If you are in a league that values saves, Casilla is a great waiver wire add for saves chances. He is only 36% owned in Yahoo leagues.
