Kyle Schwarber will return to the lineup for the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, according to the Cubs Twitter account.
The outfielder will play in left and bat second for the Cubbies as they go for their sixth straight win. A rib injury kept him out of action since Sept. 1. Luckily for Schwarber, he didn’t have to land on the DL, and is ready to play every day again.

Schwarber did pinch-hit on Tuesday but failed to reach base. Apparently he’s good enough to be out there again and play the field as Chicago hopes to cut the NL Central lead that the Cardinals hold to 5 1/2 games.
The 22-year-old rookie has been solid since he was called up to join the main roster. In 49 games, Schwarber owns a .268 BA with 13 HR and 38 RBI. He’s one of the many young players of the future in Chicago that has helped this team become one of the better teams in the NL.
It will be a tough return because Carlos Martinez will bring his 3.04 ERA to the mound against the Cubs.
