BALLER MOVE: Draft Target Late in All Leagues
ANALYSIS: Scooter Gennett now holds the reigns at second base for the Milwaukee Brewers, since Rickie Weeks has departed. He's flying under the radar in most fantasy drafts with an ADP of 283, even thought many people feel he could end up being a top 10 player in a weak position. I tend to agree, but with one caveat -- he continues batting first in the Brewers lineup. Gennett struggled mightily against southpaws in his first full year with a .103 AVG, while excelling against righties batting .307. Skippers tend to want the same leadoff hitter against all pitchers, so unless Scooter proves he's improved against lefties, Brewers manager Ron Roenicke will have second thoughts on where to bat him in the lineup.
Gennett may be showing signs of improvement against left handed pitchers though. Although it's an incredibly small sample size we have of him this spring, he's batting .333 in 12 AB with one double and one RBI. Of course that's nothing to form any sort of opinion on, but it's better than going two-for-twelve versus lefties. Roenicke would love to have Gennett hit first and Carlos Gomez in a run-producing spot, and if that's the case then Scooter is a down right bargain at his current ADP. I think fantasy owners can expect a productive 2015 season from him with at least 10 HR, 70 R, 60 RBI, and 10 steals -- and the key here is you're getting him at the right price.
